Accommodation can make a small wedding easier, but a venue that sleeps twelve does not necessarily allow twelve wedding guests—or an event at all. Ask about the celebration and the overnight stay separately.
Count bedrooms, beds and event guests separately
Request a room list with bed configurations and the maximum overnight occupancy. Confirm the permitted event guest count as a separate number. Check accessible rooms, children’s arrangements and whether anyone would have to share a room they were not expecting to share.
Find out what the quoted price actually buys
Ask which rooms and nights are included, whether you need to book the whole property, and whether guests pay the venue directly. Record minimum stays, breakfast, cleaning, deposits and any extra event charges. Do not assume a couple’s suite means accommodation for everyone.
Get the event permission in writing
Before booking a holiday property, tell the host exactly what you plan: guest numbers, suppliers, ceremony, meal, music and finish time. Request written confirmation that the event is permitted and ask about any approval requirements. An overnight booking alone does not answer those questions.
Plan for people staying elsewhere
Check nearby alternatives, transport after the reception and mobile reception at the property. Tell guests about costs and check-in times before asking them to commit. Keep the invitation clear about whether a stay is optional and who is paying for it.
